Wireless Innovation Alliance Commends the FCC’s Commitment to Innovative Spectrum Sharing in the 3.5 GHz Band
Apr. 17, 2015  |   Wireless Innovation Alliance

The Wireless Innovation Alliance (WIA) released the statement below on today’s FCC Open Meeting where the Commission approved an order to implement a spectrum sharing framework in the 3550-3700 MHz band.

WIA applauds the FCC’s bipartisan 5-0 vote to allow spectrum sharing in the underutilized 3.5 GHz spectrum band. As consumers rely more heavily on unlicensed spectrum, opening access to the 3.5 GHz band holds significant potential for successful spectrum sharing that helps meet the surging demand of mobile and fixed broadband users while enabling new wireless investment and spurring innovation.

We commend the Commission’s commitment to the crucial role unlicensed spectrum plays in our nation’s wireless future and its continued work to more efficiently and effectively share this finite resource. We look forward to working with the Commission as it continues its efforts to promote spectrum efficiency and innovation to the benefit of U.S. consumers and innovators.
